A subject specific database for journals, books, and dissertations on topics in language and literature. As an international database, MLA includes citations for sources in many languages.

 

Scholarship on Southern Literature

The SSSL Bibliography is an annotated checklist of scholarship on writers (novelists, playwrights, poets, essayists, diarists) associated with the American South.

 

Communication and Mass Media Complete on Ebsco

Research and reference covering many areas of the communication field. Over 600 journals are indexed, with full text for almost half. Provides access to author profiles for thousands of important figures in the field.

Primary Sources:

New York Times Historical (1851-2001) -- Full-text.

An amazing unique primary resource, the Historical NYT provides full image of pages and individual articles. Use the "Advanced Search" to look for certain article types, editorials, cartoons, advertisements and photographs.

North American Women's Letters and Diaries (NAWLD) on NCLive -- Full-text.

The collection includes some 150,000 pages of published letters and diaries from individuals writing from Colonial times to 1950. Drawn from more than 600 sources, including journal articles, pamphlets, newsletters, monographs, and conference proceedings, much of the material is in copyright. Represented are all age groups and life stages, all ethnicities, many geographical regions, the famous and the not so famous. It includes some 300 biographies to enhance the use of the database.
