Nonprofit Databases

 

The "ABI" (Abstracts in Business Information) group of databases are one of the oldest and best known in the field of business and consequently in the field of nonprofit. Several nonprofit journals are indexed here.

Full-text of 80 premier business titles, some dating back to the early 1900's.

Includes coverage of local and regional business news and other market reports.

 

American Business Directory (ReferenceUSA) -- Full-text.
Business directory covering 12.5 million organizations, companies, churches, governments and any other organization that would be listed in "white" or "yellow" page listings and 125 million residents. This on-campus only resource provides access and lineage to nearly all of the companies in the US. Use the basic search to find a particular company, non-profit or other organization. Use the custom search to find all the companies in a geographic region such as county, city or state.

Search LEXIS-NEXIS for financials and news articles on companies and business topics. It also includes access to thousands of articles on non-profit companies. Click the link and use the news search to look up an article on not for profit or non-profits . 

 

Business Source Premier on Ebsco via NCLive -- Full-text.

Another definitive article database in the field.

Charity and Nonprofit Directory from Guidestar -- Full-text.

The Guidestar Charity and nonprofit directory lists nonprofits in the United States. This is a large directory and includes most not for profits that exceed a set dollar amount in revenues. All types of organizations are included. One can search by the name of an organization, by a type of organization and of course can limit to size and geographic region. Detailed information is included for the organization. Financial information comes from the full-text copies of the IRS 990 filing.
