David L. Bryden
is the
Director of Library Services but also continues
to provide reference and instructional services,
especially to graduate classes. He has been at
High Point University since 1990. David is
instrumental in maintaining and updating access
to our many web and online resources
used by High Point University students. David
does instructional classes with graduate
students, administers the library budget and is
the person to go to when you want to comment
about the library or library services. David was
the winner of the Meredith Clark Slane
Distinguished Teaching/Service Award in 2001.
David has a BA in Philosophy from Guilford
College and his Masters of Library Science came
from UNCG. David also teaches as an adjunct in
the Library school at UNCG.

Stephanie Parsons is Head of Reference Services
and has been at Smith Library since August 2006. She provides research help and
information at the reference desk and in consultation with students, faculty,
and staff. Stephanie also offers research instruction sessions to undergraduate
classes and develops the Reference collection and services. Originally from
Kentucky, Stephanie got her B.A. in English at Centre College and also received
an M.A. in English from UNC-Chapel Hill and MLIS from UNCG. When not at the
library, Stephanie enjoys reading (really!), planning trips, home improvement
projects, and playing with her dogs.

Betsy Merricks
joined Smith Library in March 2005. She has
worked several years in higher education at
East Carolina University’s English
Department, and Joyner Library's Special
Collections and Rare Books. She supervises
Interlibrary Loan borrowing and lending as
well as assists in the Reference Services
Department. Betsy received her M.A. in
English from East Carolina University. Her
master’s concentration is Multicultural
Literature. Currently, she is completing her
Master’s in Library Science and will graduate
in May 2008. Betsy serves as advisor to Alpha
Phi Omega Service Fraternity and Alpha Delta
Theta Sorority. She is happiest with her
family, friends, great books and music, and
time and opportunity to enjoy them all.

A. LaNita Williams is in charge
of Circulation Services. Her department is
responsible for the circulation of books,
reserves, serials, laptops, and DVDs. She also
makes certain that materials are shelved
correctly in the collection. Nita handles
overdue notices and fines. Nita graduated from
the University of North Carolina at Greensboro
with a B.A. in English and has been at High
Point University for 20 years. She is the mentor
for the Black Cultural Awareness.

Karen Harbin is the Acquisitions
Supervisor at Smith Library. She oversees the
purchase of books, DVD's, and other library
materials. She also assists with cataloging for
the Technical Services Department. She is a
graduate of High Point University and has been
with the University since 1980. Karen volunteers
at the campus chapel and helps prepare the
chapel for special events.

Jody Lohman is the Media Services
Librarian and manages the Media Services
department in the library. Jody is instrumental
in working with student and faculty
presentations, video and digital editing,
document reproduction and schedules the two
large media rooms and the smaller conference
room. She received her Masters in Library
Science from State University of New York at
Albany in 1988, and a Bachelors degree in Art
History from State University of New York at
Buffalo. She and her husband moved to
Winston-Salem from Jacksonville, FL in 1997 and
both enjoy dancing, singing, and playing music.

Sheri A. Teleha is the
Cataloging/Serials Librarian and assigns subject
headings and Dewey classification for various
types of library materials to make these items
easier to find in the collection. She is
responsible for the acquisition, cataloging,
processing, and binding of journals, microforms
and newspapers. She also works diligently to
maintain electronic access to the Smith Library
magazine and journal collection. She has a BA
degree in English with a Religion minor from the
College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. Her
Master’s degree in Library Science is from Kent
State University in Kent, Ohio. She has been
working at High Point University’s Smith Library
since 1999. Her husband, John Teleha, is also a
librarian and works at the Buford library at A&T
University.

Michael Ingram is the Technical
Services and Systems Librarian. He oversees
Technical Services, the department of the
library that catalogs and processes materials
received by the library. He also takes care of
the systems end of the Library's Automation
System and collaborates on hardware and software
in the library. He did his undergraduate work
here at High Point College, and has a Master of
Arts from Arkansas State University, and Master
of Library Science from UNCG. He came to work
here in 1987. Mike is a member of ITAC, the
campus technology committee.

Robert Fitzgerald
is the Evening Reference Librarian at Smith
Library. He is available at the library from
5:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m, Mondays through
Thursdays. He received his Masters of Library
Science degree from UNC-G. Bob is here to help
the students, faculty and staff of H.P.U. with
library-related issues such as subject research,
paper citation, source identification and
retrieval and use of the electronic resources.
Bob acts as the evening supervisor of the
library and truly enjoys assisting our many
library patrons.

Charo L. Tomlin is one of our
Weekend Circulation Supervisors. Her Masters in
Public Administration is from High Point
University in 2005. Charo is responsible for
supervising and assisting patrons at the library
on the weekends. Charo also teaches as an
adjunct at area colleges.
