Film Resources at High Point University

Please email the Media Resource Librarian, Samantha Leonard (sleonard@highpoint.edu), with any questions or concerns about finding and using films in Smith Library. To request a DVD reserve for a class please fill out this DVD digital request form.

High Point University Film Collection:

DVDs rentals can be checked out by faculty, staff, and students for three days with a limit of three DVDs. DVDs cannot be renewed. To browse the physical collection, please come to the first floor of Smith Library where the DVD cases are displayed by genres and in alphabetical order. To check out DVDs, please bring the empty DVD case to the circulation desk on the second floor of Smith Library and have your passport ready for check out.

To browse all of High Point University's film collection and check the availability of a DVD, please go to the library webpage and search using the catalog and DVD tab in the center of the page. If you do not see a DVD you would like to watch, please submit a digital film request, found on the "Film Request" tab on the media webpage.

Course Reserves and DVDs:

If you are a professor who would like to put films on reserve for a class, please email the Media Resource Librarian (sleonard@highpoint.edu) with the title of the film and the name of the class. Or fill out this DVD reserve request form. to put a film on reserve for your class.

To see the availability of DVD reserves, please browse the High Point University Course Reserves. From there you can search for the title of the DVD on reserve OR the class professor's name OR for the name of the class. Once you have found the reserve item, you can see the availibility by clicking on the catalog entry. The Extraordinaire Cinema is located on the 1st floor of the University Center. All films are complimentary with a valid HPU Passport.

This “coffeehouse cinema,” located in Greensboro, North Carolina, is a contemporary twist on the traditional café, which also screens independant films and cult classics.

a/perture cinema

a/perture cinema is an independent, locally-owned movie theater in the heart of downtown Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Screening a mix of independent, foreign, documentary, local, and festival films in two 80-seat theaters, a/perture has evening screenings seven days a week with additional matinees on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
