Lecture Room
Reservations Policy
Media Services provides
scheduling for faculty and staff wishing to bring
classes to the library to use the lecture rooms. As
an academic support service, the use of these rooms
is restricted to faculty-supervised classroom use or
conference use sponsored by a faculty or staff
member of High Point University.
The lecture rooms are for
faculty who need space for student presentations,
movie showings, meetings, and special one-time
presentations. They are not meant to be used in lieu
of a classroom, and may not be scheduled on a
regular basis.
Requests to use these rooms
must be made by a faculty, staff, or adjunct member.
Students may not reserve the rooms. Clubs and
organizations may hold meetings in the rooms, as
long as the faculty advisor makes the reservations,
and is present with the students when using these
rooms.
Requests to book these rooms
should be made well in advance to ensure their
availability, but it is also possible to reserve the
room at the time of use if it is not already booked.
Reservations may be made by coming to Media Services
in the lower level of the library, by calling
841-9103, or by sending an e-mail to media@highpoint.edu.
Conference Room
Reservations Policy
Media Services also provides
scheduling for the Conference room. Students, as
well as faculty and staff, may reserve the
conference room for small group meetings, projects
and practice for presentations. The Conference room
may not be scheduled on a regular basis.
As with the Lecture rooms,
requests to book these rooms should be made well in
advance to ensure their availability, but it is also
possible to reserve the room at the time of use if
the room is not already booked. Reservations may be
made by coming to Media Services in the lower level
of the library, by calling 841-9103, or by sending
an e-mail to
media@highpoint.edu.
Food Policy & Room Regulations
Only pre-packaged snack items, small finger
sandwiches, cut vegetables, fruit, pastries, and
bottled beverages are permitted in the library
rooms. The general library policy states that
patrons may eat only snack items in the library. One
reason is that the poor ventilation system in the
library is not equipped to handle the smell of
non-snack-type
foods. As a result, hot food items and larger meals including
meat, pizza, subs, sandwiches and salads are not
permitted in the library rooms.
All
catering should be arranged through ARAMARK, since
they provide food service for all campus functions. No food
may be brought in by outside caterers. ARAMARK will
provide a list of snack selections available to use
in the library rooms. For catering
requests, contact them by phone at 841-9236 or by
e-mail at
catering@highpoint.edu.
Before leaving the rooms, all trash and food must be
removed from the room, and all furniture and
equipment returned to the original setup.
