Located on the first floor of Smith Library, the Media Services department includes the following facilities:
Media Library The Media Library houses the instructional media and feature films on DVDs and videos, as well as sound recordings of music, speeches, and sound effects. |

The Media Lab The Studio provides resources for patrons to create multimedia materials for class-related instruction and presentation. It houses computers, scanners, digital video-editing, sound-editing, and photo-editing facilities, and viewing and listening equipment. |

Printing and Scanning Services Printing Services provides high quality printing of photographs and posters, dry mounts, and lamination, as well as performing analog to digital scanning projects. Please see the Media Services Price List for pricing of printing services. |
What can you do here?
View and borrow most DVDs and videos from the instructional media, feature film, documentary, and foreign film genres. Get assistance on searching and finding videos and request media items to be added to the collections. Please see the "Film" tab on the Smith Library Media webpage for more information on checking out DVDs, subject lists of films, and local film resources.
Borrow digital cameras and videorecorders, microphones, camcorders, tripods, voice recorders, CD-players, DVD players, and VCRs. Please see the "Equipment" tab on the Smith Library Media webpage for more information on available equipment.
Use multimedia computer lab resources and get assistance with the production of academic-related multimedia materials, including videos, podcasts, graphics, and scanning. Book the lecture room for a presentation, lecture, group project meeting space, or movie viewing for a class. Please remember to email the Media Resource Librarian at sleonard@highpoint.edu to make a reservation and to check the online calendar for availability on the Smith Library home webpage under "About HPU Libraries" and "Classroom Calendars."
Use the lab to view and listen to DVDs, videos, CDs, foreign language tapes, and reserve materials.
Collaboration Stations:
Collaboration stations are available for use. If you are worried about not getting a table, you can make reservations by emailing media@highpoint.edu. You can share your work from your laptop to a large television monitor with a VGA connector. Individuals or groups of people can watch DVD, BluRays, and VHS tapes. Be sure to check out a headphone splitter when watching films in groups. The collaboration stations are located on the first floor, in an open space, so feel free to talk and discuss at these tables.
